Randome Post & 2 Memes
Well, I'm sorting getting back into the swing of life. Just in time to start packing again for our roadtrip to North Carolina to visit my Grandmother. I actually never fully unpacked. We will be leaving bright and early Friday morning.
Today, July 4th, we are both off. We took them to a local farm to go blueberry picking, but...there were none left from this past weekend. Poor Kayla - SO wanted to pick blueberries. We'll head back there in a couple weeks and hopefully there will be some then. At least they got to play on the tractor in their store.
But the girls were happy with going to the Super Duper Playground, as they call it. Oh and at the farm, I was looking at a jar of something called "Better than Peanut Butter". The name intrigued me, but of course it is made with peanuts. A woman was there and she asked if we had a peanut allergy. So we got to talking. Her gs is highly allergic and has been hospitalized for his reactions. Very scary. She told us that she has heard a study where a doctor even recommended holding peanuts from kids until they are 6. Sounds good to me. At one point she commented how she must sound "crazy". I told her no way - not to us. If you ask me her daughter or son is very lucky to have their child's gm be such an advocate for them. That is not easy to come by.
So, I have been tagged twice since my vacation ended. The first was from Michelle. She tagged me for the 8 Things About Me Meme. So here are 8 random facts about me.
1. I don't like coffee - hot or cold (I'll stick with Michelle's 1st one as it fits me so well). :)
2. My left thumb is double jointed - it can bend back pretty far.
3. I have some kind of adhesion in my left eye - so far it's no big deal but I get it checked once a year by a specialist b/c if it were to change or move, it could cause me to lose my sight in that eye.
4. I have some pretty cool photographs of my ovaries from when I had surgery for Endometriosis.
5. When I was a child, I somehow got into a bush with thorns and onegot lodged under my skin. That thorn is still in my arm.
6. I used to get my nails done - I miss it.
7. I still have one close friend from High School.
8. I have 2 close friends who live outside the USA - Canada & UK.
I'll post anyone who wants to join in. Let me know if you do so I can come check it out!
Second, Janeen tagged with this cool little Bloggie Award.
Janeen said some nice things about me...
"Sue is a fellow food allergy mom but not only does she help "talk me down from the ledge" on days I get frustrated with food allergies, but I've learned so much from her about infertility and about raising girls (which is totally foreign to me)." I will say she too has talked me down from the ledge. Nothing helps more than having someone to talk to who's BTDT!
I will bestowe this awesome award on the following fellow bloggers...
Christine over at Are We There Yet. I love to read about her family. In a society where it's "acceptable" to be excited for your kids to go back to school in September - I love to see her excited for hers to be home with her for the summer. She also digi scraps so I love to have someone to share my newfound hobby with.
Jill at Who Could Ask for Anything More. I met her when I won a custom made from from the Ultimate Blog Party (which I love). Her blog is a lot of fun and very inspiring.
Jennisa over at The Princess Diaries shows such love for her girls and it shines through how much she loves being a Mom. She has battled infertility and her oldes is also allergic to dairy. So we have some things in common and I just love reading her blog.
And although I know she's already received this award, I'm still tagging my Sister, Christine. We are 3 years apart and are night and day in so many ways. But we are also so in sync with a lot of our core values - especially with what's important with regards to our children. Unfortunately there is 500 miles in between us, but we get to keep up via e-mail, phone and our blogs. I'm also flying out to see her next week, so I can't wait!
That should about catch you all up with what's going on around here. My day will be filled with list making, organizing and packing as well as with fun family time. Do you think I'll have time for an errand or two?
