Kayla
Kayla, my oldest. She is 4 1/2 and is a sweet, loving and silly little girl. She took us 2 ½ years and 3 IVF’s to conceive. Kayla is allergic to dairy. We manage her allergy and work to balance her safety with giving her a normal childhood. Kayla loves to read books and play games - she amazes me every day.

Alysa
Alysa, my youngest. She is 3 years old and is a silly little spitfire. She’s our monkey and loves to climb on everything. She was a “natural” baby, but it was only b/c of my wonderful doctors that we were able to stop an impending miscarriage. Alysa suffers from Acid Reflux Disease and sleep apnea. She may be little, but she has a big personality. She adores her big sister and is so much fun to be around. She keeps me laughing every day.

New Friends
Well, I took the girls to a meeting of the local chapter of The MOMS Club today. I figured it was a good way to meet more Moms with kids Kayla and Alysa’s ages, plus they are all local to me. They had a craft today, so Kayla got to make a Halloween picture and a jack-o-lantern magnet. She had a lot of fun. And of course, after the craft was done, she wouldn’t leave my lap. Makes for a very crowded lap since Alysa was in the Baby Bjorn. But after a little while, we went over to see what the other kids were doing. As soon as she saw them running around having fun, she ran off to join them. At that point, I got an occasional “Hi Mommy” as she ran past me. It’s good to see her able to enjoy herself away from me, especially in a room full of strangers.

And as I was talking to the two women in charge of the group (one was previously told of Kayla’s allergy), they asked questions about it (genuine curiosity). Then they asked how they can accommodate her with the type of snacks they should/should not put out. I was very touched by their gesture. I am looking forward to meeting all the Moms in the group and Kayla and Alysa having more fun with their new friends.<>Here is a picture of her with her craft.
