Dairy Alternative Month
I will say there is truly a month for everything! Thank you to Janeen for not only adding me to the list of dairy-free blogs, but for letting me know about this every important month of Dairy Alternative Month.
Kate DeBevois from the Philadelphia Wellness Examiner wrote an article about it and included links to some milk free sites. Some on her list are new to me, so I’m excited to check them out.
I’ll take a page out of Janeen’s book and post some more of my favorite milk-free websites.
Sarah
Amy
Go Dairy Free (yes, even though I know she is listed in the article – I love her site and book)
Milk Allergy Companion
Chocolate Emporium
Amanda’s Own
Cherry Brook Kitchens
Enjoy Life Foods
Divvies
Tofutti - I can still have my chips and dip!!!
Silk - yogurts and “milk”
We’re “lucky” in that dairy, although it’s can be very hard to shop dairy-free (many many bizarre and “regular” things contain dairy), it is one of the easiest if not the easiest food to substitute for. Many of you who have been to my house know that I can serve foods that would fool anyone into believing it was made with dairy and not without. So I will now go and enjoy the rest of Dairy Alternative Month even if I do still miss cheese every day of my life.

One of the happiest days in my life was the day that I was able to eat cheese again :) There are lots of days that trump that - getting married, having babies, etc... but being able to have dairy again really made me appreciate what I had lived without.
I do agree though - dairy is one of the easiest things to substitute for and with so many people who have some form of dairy allergy that is a good thing!
I'll eat a piece of cheese for you today - okay? :)
