*Sigh of Relief*
We made it through our Rita’s outing. Even going in as prepared as I could be, the fact that we were in a place that sells custard leaves me quaking in my shoes. I had spoken to both a manager and the owner over the weekend about the flavors and how they are made. And I explained to the owner that Kayla could not eat anything out of an open container. The owner was wonderful and when they made the cherry flavor, she took some directly off the machine and put it in a quart, sealed it and put it in the freezer for me. This is also great because now we have some Rita’s at home to enjoy. It’s also a money saver since a small cup is probably $2-3 and the court was $4 plus tax and there is a lot of water ice in a quart.
The other Moms and Dad were great. One little girl who had custard but her Dad kept her away from Kayla and cleaned her up really good when she was done. The others had water ice, so Kayla was able to sit next to them. I got a cute picture of the 4 kids and Kayla had fun. Although you can tell she’s not used to such outings because when she was done eating, she wanted to go home. :) She was also quite excited to see her friends at Rita’s, especially the one little boy in her class – she definitely got some boy craziness in her.
It was a nice little outing, but definitely not one I need to repeat often. I was so glad when we were safely in my car. I also kept checking her over for hives because no matter how careful you are, you just never know.
Here’s a picture of Kayla eating her water ice. Yum!

So glad that all went well and that Rita's went out of their way to protect her.
This sounds so familiar!!
The sliced cheese is vegan. Tofutti is the brand we typically use for all her cheeses. They make mozorella, american, cream cheese, sour cream, etc., etc.
We buy them here at whole foods, dierbergs, sometimes shop n save (I don't know if any of those stores are where you live).
Glad you had a successful field trip!! Happy Fourth!!
So glad it went well and that the other parents were supportive and friendly!
