Happy Belated 4th of July
I hope everyone had a fun fourth of July. It was a pretty low-key day here. J got out of work early (Yay!) and my parents and his came over. We had a nice indoor bbq (it was very humid out). We just relaxed and enjoyed the company and the girls and toasted to our Great Country and to what this holiday really stands for. The individual freedoms and rights that our Founding Fathers envisioned. The rights that are taken too much for granted.
It's funny though to see young kids try to grasp the world in their mind. I was trying to explain the holiday (in a toddler/preschool understandable way) to the girls and all day Kayla kept telling me that she doesn't want to GO to America. I tried to explain that we live in America. She insists we live in Ohio (she's confusing NJ with where her cousins live). She knows our address, but apparently forgets the New Jersey part. LOL Thinking it through, it's a lot to grasp - we live in a town that is in a state (forget the county part) that is in a country that is in the world. At least I can say she loves the US flag - even if she doesn't want to go to the United States of America. I'm working on her...
Here is a photo of the Grandfathers playing games with Kayla and Alysa. Two grown men sitting in child-size chairs. Does it get any better? :)
I'll also ad that I'm happy to say that Kayla does not get her sense of direction from my Mom. Last Monday, on our way to gymnastics, I had to take a slightly different route to get cash for our Rita's trip afterwards. Leaving our development, I made a left (I normally go right). Now, I had also taken a different route OUT of our development, so the intersection we were at in relation to our normal trip to gymnastics was different. As soon as I made the left, Kayla screamed, "No Mommy! We have to go THAT way!" as she pointed to the right. I'm SO glad she seems to have a good sense of direction. No offense Mom!

Hi Sue:
I don't know what you mean about my sense of direction. Just because dad refers to me as "directionally challenged"....
Dad and I had a great 4th at your house.
Love you much,
Mom :)
