Nicknames
Well, here is my stab at a blog. It's actually not my first blog. I set one up 2+ years ago to keep family and friends informed about my daughters. That has worked out amazingly well. This will be my first about me and my random thoughts.
I frequent bb's and some of the women on there have blogs set up which got me thinking about it. then when my sister, who is notoriously behind me technologically, started one, I thought - "Hey!". So, here I am. Although I have not decided if I will inform anyone of this blog yet - I'm kind of testing the waters. So for a while at least, no one, or very few will be reading this.
So I sat at my computer this evening, agonizing over what to call my blog. I've never been the creative one in the family - that would be my sister. And then, for some reason, out of the recesses of my brain, I started thinking back to the nicknames we had in my family when I was a kid. My mother was Eyeball to Myball, my father was Pinocle Peanut, my sister was Penelope Pinrose and mine was...Jabber Walkie Joke. Don't ask me where these came from, as I was a Toddler. We apparently used these names so much that they had to stop calling me Jabber Walkie Joke when someone in a store asked me what my name was and my answer was... Jabber Walkie Joke. That was the end of that! And hence the name of this Blog.
The tradition (my father is big on traditions) of nicknames continued on with the arrival of my sister's kids and then mine. They are much tamer, though. That is good b/c DH and I continuously refer to our girls by their nicknames. Our girls are Kayla (2) and Alysa (9 months). Their nicknames are KaylaKu and Alyscious. DH and I often call Alysa Simply Alyscious. They work and my Odd, knows her nickname and her name and the same for her sister. She will use Alysa and Alyscious interchangeably. It's very cute.
Well, I meant to post this last night, but I got really tired. So we shall see where this Blog takes me....
